COPERATE
The Control Unit

The coperate is the main hand unit of the LCS. It controls focus and iris, and consists of control units for

     -  Controlling focus and/or iris
     -  Camera start/stop (for film and video cameras)
     -  Wireless operation through internal antenna
     -  External adjustment of the torque
     -  Integrated lighting for the marker ring

The coperate is an ergonomic control unit that rests comfortably in the user's hand. Every function can be carried out hardwired or wireless through the camin . The coperate consists of a hand-wheel for focus and a slider for iris control through the motors. The cmotion zoom control unit, the czoom , is modular and can also be attached to the coperate . In this configuration the coperate becomes a multi-functional 3 motor lens and camera control system. The user interface of the coperate is clear and easy to understand, giving even first time operators confidence in the palm of their hand.  The torque of the hand-wheel can be adjusted by the user for delicate operation, and the interchangeable marker rings can be illuminated by two LEDs for night shoots. Furthermore, the user can also set mechanical or electronic operation range limits on the hand-wheel and the lens axis. The easy-to-use cmotion neck strap system " cstrap " enables the user to hang the hand unit around their neck or over a shoulder whenever the need arises.

     -  Ergonomic Design

At first glance the ergonomic design of the coperate can be recognized. Through simply holding the unit the user will appreciate its light weight and evenly balanced construction. This has been achieved by incorporating the battery into the handle. The rotary knob, or hand wheel, is sensitive and can be turned by very small movements. The operator can adjust the torque of the hand wheel by pressing the centre button and turning the knob to increase or decrease the torque to their preferred setting. The iris control slider is conveniently located for full operation using just the thumb. An operator can switch between the knob and the slider for control over the focus and iris.

     -  Easy to carry

Despite its robust body, the coperate is still light weight and evenly balanced to help prevent hand fatigue during long periods. The easy-to-use cmotion neck strap " cstrap " enables the user to conveniently hang the hand unit around their neck or over a shoulder whenever the need arises, keeping the unit close at hand. The cstrap is secured with ¼” protected screw to prevent any unwanted loosening.

     -  Clear layout of controls

All cmotion components follow the same structure with clear self-explanatory layouts enabling even a first time user to operate with confidence.

     -  Power

Standardized Li-Ion batteries, which are common in the film industry, are necessary for wireless operation. The battery is inserted into the handgrip and therefore is protected against outside influences. The coperate can function on battery power for approximately 11 hours. The BAT-LED, is a multilevel control display which warns the user of a draining battery.

STANDARD FUNCTIONS

     -  Marker ring and marking strip

The coperate is equipped with an easy to change, and easy to label, marker ring on the hand wheel. The marker ring is protected against twisting. The scale of the hand wheel is easy to use because of its layout in the line of sight. The system is also compatible with ARRI (WFU-1 and WFU-3) marker rings. The user also has the advantage of an easy to mark labelling strip next to the slider.

     -  Fixed positioning & rotation restrictions

Both the knob and the slider can be secured against unwanted shifting or movement using mechanical locking screws.  The two screws located on the knob can also be used to set mechanical limits of rotation if required.

LENS
The rotation of the lens motor can also be adjusted by using the LENS button. With this function the user can define the range of the lens in relation to the entire range of the knob or the slider. The motor rotates slower in relation to the knob, thereby enabling the user to designate more precise and accurate lens settings.

KNOB
The function KNOB is designed to restrict the rotation of the knob. With this function the user can define the range of the hand wheel in relation to the entire lens rotation. In this case the lens motor runs faster in relation to the knob, enabling the user to locate the desired position much quicker.

     -  Open Iris

This function enables the operator to check or adjust the focus.  The user holds down the OPEN IRIS button, and the iris opens completely. Once the button is released the iris returns to its original position.

     -  Control of the camera

The recessed RUN button, which is accessible to the thumb but designed so it cannot be pressed accidentally, can simply run or stop the film or video camera your camin is connected to. With all compatible cameras, the status of the camera will be displayed with a green LED when running, or red to highlight a fault or error.

NUMEROUS EXTRAS

     -  Marker

When using cdisplay with the coperate, the user can mark certain values on the visual depiction of the focus scale. To do so, the user pushes the button located at the back of the coperate which is easily accessible with the index finger. This marks points of the scale on the cdisplay (similar to the marks that can be made on the scale ring). The user can choose from three different colours to apply to the markers to indicate different situations.  Markers can be deleted by simply holding down the same button.

     -  Modularity

CBUS interface
The coperate is equipped with two electric CBUS- interfaces. The front CBUS socket is for the modular attachment of the czoom, and interface located on the side of the unit is used for the modular connection of the cdisplay.

     -  Connectable

czoom
When an operator requires the use of zoom control, the czoom-module can simply be attached to the coperate . In this configuration the coperate is equipped to control three motors wireless. In a two operator set up, it is possible to simply attach the czoom to the chandle and plug into the coperate via the CBUS interface.  This enables the first operator to control focus and iris, and the second operator wireless control of the zoom, through its connection to the coperate .

cdisplay
Using the simple attachment “clamp” the operator can easily slide and lock the cdisplay onto the coperate to create a complete multifunctional lens and camera control system. The clamp and cdisplay complement the ergonomic and counterbalanced design of the coperate for ease of use and prevents hand fatigue.

–  Hardwired and wireless control
The coperate can be operated hardwired or wireless through the camin. If operation is necessary in extreme conditions (e.g. under water) by plugging in the CBUS-cable the system is automatically transferred to its hardwired mode. In this case the system will turn off the wireless system and will run solely on the power supply through the camin .
